Awareness K-9 Service Dogs are available to service your needs. They are trained to help people when they have a problem, such as low or high blood sugars. The breeds that we have found work best are German Shepard's, Golden Retrievers, Smooth Coated Retrievers, Yellow Labs and the Smooth Coated Collie. Manyt of the pound puppies work, as well. . If you, or someone you know has a dog you feel we might be able to use in our program, please let us know. |

Here are Jeff and Colby at the 2004 Diabetes EXPO at the Four Point Sheraton Resort and Hotel in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Colby likes being at the shows with us. Last year at a dog walk she caught a low blood sugar. I thought I was fine, but she new better. She went to Jeff and alerted him of the low blood sugar I was experiencing |
| Without Colby, Jeff would not feel comfortable about going to work. One morning when I did not wake up. Colby went to Ann, my mother-in-law, and woke her up. Ann had to call 911 for me. This is why this program is so important. | ![]() |
